    SS2006: Script Post

all members on this board are free, to chuck ideas and discuss other ideas.

At the end of January, I will choose the way we are going to move forward story, and those who wish to do the script writing , we need one of you to step forward and take control as supervisorin collaboration with myself.

The only reason you should have for doing this, is pureley to have some fun in a collective see where this adventure is going to end. any commercial, egotistical reasons, the doors on the left. Lets not have any delusions of grandeur.

There will be a contribution required by all parties, which we will decide on once the script has been finished nad broken down. I think reading some of the other comments, this is another case for having a collaborate script , everyone getrs the opportunity to chip in, by having a supervisor and myself breaking up the decisions on the script, then hopefully that will clear this working for me issue.

Once end of january we can start on the next stage of thinking about the next stage,

One step at a time, moving forward otherwise it wont work.

If Beta SP and if I'm providing the camera, it will be covered by insurance so that isn't a worry. Tapes are about ?8 for 30mins. [So if we're shooting 4 days, for a 10min script, I'd assume we'd shoot maybe 2 hours per day. Or 4 tapes.] So 16 tapes, rounded up to 20 and tape stock will be in the region of ?200.

I can transfer to hard drive or Mini DV for nothing.

Digibeta is probably only slightly more for stock, and depends on whether we can blag some free DigiBeta deck time.

Don't know how it really all goes in England, but here in Holland I often hear beginning filmmakers being sponsored by other companies. I've even heard some crazy story about a City Counsil giving about 2500 fucking euros to a group of young filmmakers, so if you know a counsil that is just crazy enough to believe youre making really cultural things, you might get a help somewhere.

I'd try as much as possible to let other companies cover the costs, there must be small fundings in England bigger than Holland for that sort of thing.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That puts me straight off. I don't think you've learnt lessons from Helpless, I think a collaborative script to the extent of everyone involved on the board will be muddled and lacking substance. IMHO, you should simply get people to submit a script- and you pick the best/most practical one (if you're directing). Assign it ONE script editor, as well as the Director (you) to go over it with the original writer, re-draft it as many times as needed and then go with it. I'm sure everyone who wants to work on it will be happy as long as it's a decent script- rather that one that they've had a smidgen of input into.

Collaborative scripts tend to work for TV series' and comedies- but I always reckon the best stories are concieved from one persons vision.

Maybe I sound like a back seat driver here- but I just hope if you're all putting the effort in then you should lay a good foundation before you go running off outside with your C4 and lightsabres...

"I don't think you've learnt lessons from Helpless"

Sorry, I'm new here. What was "Helpless"? Was it the board's last collaborative effort?

    Thanks,
    Jack
